RJA&HS Trust Fund

The RJA&HS Trust Fund was formed on the 4th June 2001 by combining the funds in a number of smaller trusts administered by the Society. The principle sources were the Channel Islands Exhibition Trust Fund and the Le Cornu Prize Fund.

The aim of the Trust, as set out in the Declaration of Trust, is to assist with:

• “the provision of exhibitions, scholarships, bursaries or other awards to students of agriculture;
• the giving of grants to assist persons with:- the funding of research projects in the field of agriculture and the cost of foreign travel undertaken with a view to gaining knowledge of current and proposed agricultural practices and techniques throughout the world;
• the giving of grants to assist with the funding of the training and of the development of the knowledge and skills of persons employed in the agricultural industry;
• the giving of special prizes or other awards to persons winning competitions for essays, theses or reports on agricultural subjects;
• the promotion of scholarship in agricultural studies and
• the dissemination of knowledge of agricultural matters to students of agriculture and persons engaged in the field of agriculture.

The definition of ‘agriculture’ set out in the Deed of Trust is ‘the rearing of livestock, horticulture, forestry and countryside management’.

The Trustees are appointed by the Council of the Agricultural Department of the RJA&HS and applications for funding to be considered by the Trustees should be made on the application form available from the Office of the RJA&HS or downloadable from this page.
