26th, 27th & 28th March 2021
An idea from our Chief Executive was put to the Horticultural Committee last year to incorporate the Spring Flower Show with displays in town shop windows. It was agreed that this is a fantastic idea which will not only help to promote the Society, but will also help foot fall in town from people viewing the shops and also give pleasure to everyone on Island to see and enjoy something different to celebrate Spring.
We plan for the displays to be put up in the shops from the week commencing 22nd March to be displayed from then and through the weekend of 26, 27 & 28 March or longer if the shops wish to. We have already promoted this a via our Facebook page, our new website plus there was an article in the Jersey Evening Post last Saturday. The JEP, Channel Television and BBC Radio Jersey will be covering the event over the coming week to next weekend.
We are also asking the public to vote for the best looking window- to vote either call Rachelle on 860648 or email her on email@example.com. Pictures of all the window displays will be on our Facebook page from Friday 26 March and you can vote by liking your favourite picture. All results will be collated and a result will be notified on Monday 29th March.
This is open to everyone and we hope you will all join in to provide displays for the shops - the display/displays should be based on the classes from the Spring Flower Show Virtual Schedule which can be found on the Horticulture Shows tab. To enable us to gauge the numbers for the shops, please let Rachelle Robinson know by phone on 01534 860648 or by email if you can do a display or displays.
To enable everyone to adhere to current social distancing and gathering regulations in place, exhibitors are asked to bring their displays up to the Showground prior to Thursday 25 March and we will arrange with the shops to deliver them and to stage them. If anyone feels happy and comfortable to deliver their displays to a shop, they can do so and Rachelle will arrange a delivery time.
We have received a fantastic response from 17 town shops so far who are very keen to participate as they too think it’s a fantastic idea during these hard times. Exhibitors can use their own vases, bowls, glasses, saucers, plates, boxes and baskets but can borrow vases from the Horticultural Department by request to Rachelle which must be collected from the office.
